HOW DO I QUIET MY NOISY PIPE?

With the first flush of a toilet you’ll know if cast iron soil pipe and fittings are installed in the floor, ceiling or behind the wall. The benefits of cast iron soil pipe are many, but only cast iron soil pipe is called The Quiet Pipe™. Cast iron soil pipe is 10 times quieter than plastic piping systems.

When specifying product for high-rise buildings, schools, hospitals and condominiums, cast iron soil pipe provides the additional benefit of durability: cast iron soil pipe is a rigid piping system and when installed underground has crush loads 5 to 8 times greater than a flexible plastic piping system and deflection is almost nonexistent in underground installations as compared to plastic piping which fails at 5% deflection and requires special bedding and trench widths to maintain side fill stiffness. Cast iron has a thermal expansion and contraction rate similar to concrete and steel unlike plastic piping which requires a designer or installer to allow for expansion and contraction. Cast iron installations also require less hangers and supports in above ground installations compared to plastic piping. These benefits make installation of cast iron cheaper to install than plastic piping.

You can rely on the Cast Iron Soil Pipe Institute (CISPI). CISPI raises the bar by monitoring and managing a rigorous process to verify that cast iron poured at the three member foundries meets stringent quality standards.
