Dallas-based James Walls, CISPI’s 23-year veteran Cast Iron Crew member, ironically grew up on a working cattle ranch in Texas with no running water. Maybe that’s why he was drawn to the plumbing trade.
James has held Master, Journeyman, and Inspector licenses with the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners for more than 42 years. He came to the Institute after a 19-year career as a city inspector with Garland, Texas. James still recalls a curious installation he inspected: a car wash was turned into a commercial office center. Sadly, nobody wanted to occupy this property and it still sits there with a For Sale sign, 35 years later.
“The people I’ve associated with over the years – there are no better people. And it’s a great and long-lasting product to represent. Been around longer than I have, that’s for sure.”
A true road warrior, James is used to traveling four, sometimes five days of the week throughout his region that includes Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Arizona. The adjustments under the COVID-19 stay-at-home order were dramatic, especially with virtual meeting technology and the responsibilities that come from raising his two grandchildren. He also stayed busy with his wife’s “honey-do” list.
When not working, James enjoys playing golf, watching the Dallas Cowboys and NCIS.
