THE IRON-CLAD TRUTH:

Standards & Specifications for DWV Systems

CISPI is as concerned for the world around us as we are for the integrity of American-made cast iron soil pipe and fittings. So all of our members achieve third-party verification for the manufacturing of cast iron soil pipe and fittings in accordance with the ASTM A74 and CISPI 301 standards while utilizing green and sustainable resources. These products are confirmed to contain a minimum of 96% recycled content.

The verification is conducted by ICC Evaluation Service, LLC (ICC-ES) with the provisions of the ICC-ES SAVE (Sustainable Attributes Verification and Evaluation™) Guideline for Determination of Recycled Content of Materials (EG101). ICC-ES examines members’ product information, test reports, calculations, quality control methods and other factors to ensure the products meet the sustainable (green) attributes listed in the respectable Verification of Attributes Reports.

ICC-ES is the United States’ leading source of technical information on building products and building technology for code compliance. A nonprofit company, ICC-ES performs technical evaluations of building products, components, methodsand materials. The evaluation process culminates with the issuance of reports on compliance with the major U.S. building codes, which are available at www.icc-es.org.

The ICC-ES SAVE Program provides manufacturers with the verification that their products meet specific sustainability targets defined by today’s codes, standards and green rating systems. The SAVE Program also takes into account codes such as the International Green Construction Code (IGCC) and the California Green Building Standards Code (CAL GREEN). ICC-ES is a subsidiary of the International Code Council.
